Captain Commando: A Wonderful Capcom Beat’em Up

I missed a few beat’em ups when compiling lists for the SNES, Genesis, and NES. I’ve covered a few of them already, but I wanted to come back to one on the SNES. Captain Commando was released by Capcom in the arcades in 1991 and was ported to the SNES in 1995. Strangely, it tookContinue reading “Captain Commando: A Wonderful Capcom Beat’em Up”

The Best Beat’em ups I’ve played so far

The beat’em up genre is one of my favorites. These are my go-to games to relax and unwind from some of the more complex video games. You don’t need to follow a story, worry about getting lost, or anything else. Just go straight and punch bad guys in the face. There is more to theseContinue reading “The Best Beat’em ups I’ve played so far”

The King of Dragons is one of the Best Beat’em Ups on the SNES

The King of Dragons feels a beat’em up inspired by Gauntlet and Dungeons and Dragons. Much like Knights of the Round, The King of Dragons was released by Capcom in the arcades in 1991. It would be ported to the SNES in 1994. I wonder why Capcom waited to port this game to the SNES.Continue reading “The King of Dragons is one of the Best Beat’em Ups on the SNES”

Knights of the Round on the SNES is an Amazing Beat’em Up

Knights of the Round is a fantastic beat’em up with some RPG elements. Capcom released the game in the arcades in 1991 and ported it to the SNES in 1994. Some changes were made to the game but were understandable for the time. In some ways, the game reminds me of the Golden Axe games.Continue reading “Knights of the Round on the SNES is an Amazing Beat’em Up”

The 10 Best Beat’em Ups on the SNES

I love a good Beat’em Up. While they can be repetitive and are better in the arcades, many were released on home consoles. They were ports of arcade games, but a few were unique to consoles like the SNES, SNES, NES, etc. I have many memories of playing these games with my friend Drew. SomeContinue reading “The 10 Best Beat’em Ups on the SNES”

The Best Beat’em Up on the SNES, TMNT IV: Turtles in Time

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time has nothing to do with the movie and is based on one of Konami’s arcade games. While I have never played the arcade game, I have some memories of the SNES game. This was one of the games I was introduced to while collecting retro games inContinue reading “The Best Beat’em Up on the SNES, TMNT IV: Turtles in Time”

A Review of Mazin Saga: Mutant Fighter on the Genesis

Mazin Saga: Mutant Fighter is a unique Beat’em Up/Fighting game hybrid. It does a better job of being a Beat’em UP, but the Fighting game stages are interesting. The game turns into Power Rangers for a minute as your character grows to fight the boss. It also reminds me of Jet Jaguar for some reason.Continue reading “A Review of Mazin Saga: Mutant Fighter on the Genesis”

Best Beat’em Ups on the NES

The NES isn’t known for its beat’em ups. This genre is better known on the Genesis/Mega Drive, SNES, and arcades. However, several ports of 80s arcade games found their way to the NES. There were also a handful of beat’em ups made for the NES.  The 80s was a strange time for every genre ofContinue reading “Best Beat’em Ups on the NES”
