This should be fun to go through! Sweet Home and Robotrek are very different games, and don’t play like other RPGs. With how different these games are, this will get a little strange as I go through them. After all, one is pure horror, and the other is a comedic science fiction game. Sweet HomeContinue reading “Which is better? Robotrek vs Sweet Home”

Mindscape’s NCAA Football Game, It is not Great
This is such a strange game. NCAA Football for the Sega Genesis and SNES were both published by Mindscape. These games were released in 1994, and this was a one off game on the home console. This isn’t some in depth experience. It is similar to other college football games that only have a handfulContinue reading “Mindscape’s NCAA Football Game, It is not Great”
Which is better? Robotrek vs Final Fantasy
Robotrek and Final Fantasy are pretty different games. They have different approaches to just about everything, but there are a handful of similarities. Many of them are because these are both turn based RPGs, and they have similar approaches to telling their story. These are two of my favorite RPGs. Final Fantasy was the firstContinue reading “Which is better? Robotrek vs Final Fantasy”
Which is better? Mystic Quest vs Phantasy Star III
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and Phantasy Star III don’t have much in common. Beyond having different settings, they have very little in common aside from turn based combat. This is another starter RPG vs one targeting older fans of the genre. One is also a more traditional sequel. I have a newfound appreciation for bothContinue reading “Which is better? Mystic Quest vs Phantasy Star III”
The Pirates of Dark Water: A Great Hidden Gem
Pirates of Dark Water is one of my favorite beat’em ups. Interestingly, games based on this property were released on the Genesis and SNES. They are not the same game, and I like one of them much more than the other. I’ll just be going over the SNES game here. This game quickly became oneContinue reading “The Pirates of Dark Water: A Great Hidden Gem”
Rival Turf! Not Terrible but Not Great
Rival Turf! is an odd beat’em up that was butchered in localization. The game had a number of changes that really harmed its overall presentation. The story was gutted from the game. This is the first game in the Rushing Beat series. Outside of Japan, these games don’t appear to be connected in any way.Continue reading “Rival Turf! Not Terrible but Not Great”
A Look at Brawl Brothers on the SNES
Brawl Brothers is a beat’em up from Jaleco. I did review this game a while ago, but for some reason, I didn’t write a blog post for it. That is what I’m going to do today! I played this game a few years ago, and I revisited it for this. Back then, I thought theContinue reading “A Look at Brawl Brothers on the SNES”
Which is better? Robotrek vs Dragon Quest
Robotrek and Dragon Quest is an interesting match up. Science fiction and high fantasy games usually make for some interesting comparisons. This one is a little tricky because Dragon Quest is a fairly basic RPG. Both games were published by Enix, but made by different development teams. They were also made at different times, whichContinue reading “Which is better? Robotrek vs Dragon Quest”
Which is better? Robotrek vs Phantasy Star
Robotrek and Phantasy Star don’t have too much in common. While they’re both turn-based RPGs and have science fiction settings, there are way more differences. These are both fun games, but I had way more fun with one of them! I enjoy the different takes on science fiction in these games. Phantasy Star is moreContinue reading “Which is better? Robotrek vs Phantasy Star”
Which is better? New Horizons or Destiny of an Emperor
Alternate history settings make for great RPGs. While the quality of the games varies, they tend to have wonderful stories. New Horizons and Destiny of an Emperor are both good RPGs, and they have more grounded takes on alternate history games. Neither game leans into fantasy all that much when it comes to the gameplay.Continue reading “Which is better? New Horizons or Destiny of an Emperor”
