Varney Lake is a Wonderful Series of Visual Novels

When I started playing Varney Lake, I wasn’t expecting to find a wonderful story. The characters are great, and you need to play through the game a few times to get all of the story. It isn’t necessary, but it does fill in the gaps that appear on the first playthrough. Other stories get unlockedContinue reading “Varney Lake is a Wonderful Series of Visual Novels”

A Review of Mazin Saga: Mutant Fighter on the Genesis

Mazin Saga: Mutant Fighter is a unique Beat’em Up/Fighting game hybrid. It does a better job of being a Beat’em UP, but the Fighting game stages are interesting. The game turns into Power Rangers for a minute as your character grows to fight the boss. It also reminds me of Jet Jaguar for some reason.Continue reading “A Review of Mazin Saga: Mutant Fighter on the Genesis”

A Review of Cosmic Star Heroine, A Spectacular RPG

Cosmic Star Heroine feels like it could be a Phantasy Star game. It is like I’m playing a side story for that series, and it is something that I love! This is an extremely fun game. This is a turn-based RPG that uses a retro art style. It is set in a Futuristic Dystopian worldContinue reading “A Review of Cosmic Star Heroine, A Spectacular RPG”

Best Beat’em Ups on the Sega Genesis

Sega did an excellent job bringing the arcade experience to their home consoles. This was their strategy to be successful in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. They made some spectacular arcade games, which created the foundation for their library. There are a ton of spectacular beat’em ups on the Sega Genesis. Sega made many, butContinue reading “Best Beat’em Ups on the Sega Genesis”

A Review of Cyborg Justice on the Sega Genesis

Cyborg Justice is a game that I don’t hear about. I didn’t play it until the late 2010s when I started revisiting some of the games I collected over the years. It is one of those games I bought; I made sure it worked and then set it on a shelf. Playing it for thisContinue reading “A Review of Cyborg Justice on the Sega Genesis”

Dune: Imperium, Probably Better as a Board Game

I like Dune. I also think it works better as a RTS game. I never thought it could work as a card battler video game. It is a board game; from what I’ve seen, it looks fun. I think this would be more fun to play as a board game. Having a group of friendsContinue reading “Dune: Imperium, Probably Better as a Board Game”

TMNT HyperStone Heist, The Best Beat’em Up on the Genesis

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an iconic franchise. I remember it most for the movies, the 80s/90s cartoon show, and video games. The two that stand out to me are the first NES and arcade games. TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist was new to me. I thought the only game on the Genesis was theContinue reading “TMNT HyperStone Heist, The Best Beat’em Up on the Genesis”

Review of Captain America and the Avengers Beat’em Up

Super Heroes and Beat’em Up games go well together. Playing as your favorite comic book character and punching bad guys in the face is always fun. In this game, it is robots, but they still have faces, so it counts. Captain America and the Avengers is a Beat’em Up game where you play as oneContinue reading “Review of Captain America and the Avengers Beat’em Up”

Review of Toxic Crusaders on the Sega Genesis

I learned about the Toxic Crusaders games from AVGN. That greatly impacted how I viewed this game when I first started playing. Instead of finding a terrible game, I found an enjoyable Beat’em Up with a few Shoot’em Up sections. This game is based on the cartoon, which was how I first learned about theContinue reading “Review of Toxic Crusaders on the Sega Genesis”

A Terrible Game | The Simpsons Wrestling on the PS1

As a property, the Simpsons doesn’t have a good track record for video games. Developers didn’t seem to know how to translate the cartoon into a video game. The only game I can remember as good was the arcade game. The Simpsons Wrestling wasn’t a bad idea. The series has a ton of characters, andContinue reading “A Terrible Game | The Simpsons Wrestling on the PS1”
