A few more characters were revealed for Marvel Cosmic Invasion. It was announced that She-Hulk and Rocket Raccoon will be in the game. You also see a few of the bosses you’ll get to beat the crap out of.

The additions of She-Hulk and Rocket Raccoon bring the roster of playable characters to ten. There are five more characters to be revealed before the game is released. Here is the current list of playable characters:

  • She-Hulk
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • Spider-Man
  • Venom
  • Captain America
  • Nova
  • Wolverine
  • Phyla-Vell
  • Storm

There is also a brief appearance of Thanos and what I think is Sauran in the trailer. These two look like they’re acting as stage bosses.

The trailer gives us a look at a few attacks you can do as a team. These are really cool to see! Beat’em ups are always more fun with a friend or two, and seeing how you can juggle opponents between the characters is awesome!

Additionally, Marvel showcases a few special attacks from the new characters. There will probably be more in the game.

The graphics look very good! While Rocket Raccoon doesn’t look all that special, they made She-Hulk look very good. Much like Shredder’s Revenge, this game looks like a Saturday Morning cartoon.

Who else makes it in?

There are five more roster spots in this game. So far, the developers have pulled from the X-Men, Avengers, and The Guardians of the Galaxy. The developers have a ton of options for those final spots.

There are quite a few characters who have been in other Marvel beat’em ups. There are also characters who have become popular thanks to the movies and Netflix/Disney series. Characters that could be added are from that:

  • Daredevil
  • Luke Cage
  • Jessica Jones
  • Iron Fist
  • The Punisher
  • Winter Soldier
  • Dr. Strange
  • Scarlet Witch
  • Vision
  • Iron Man
  • Thor

There are also quite a few from Marvel’s cosmic landscape that haven’t been used. Since this is similar to the Annihilation storyline, traditional heroes and villains can be ignored for the moment. This includes:

  • Silver Surfer
  • Ronan the Accuser
  • Super Skrull
  • Gladiator
  • Deathbird
  • Firelord

There are so many other characters that could be added. It would be very cool if they could include some of the original Guardians of the Galaxy in the game, or characters from the Marvel Multiverse. This would make this a very different game, though.

Who I would love to see in the game is Rogue. She’s my favorite X-Men character, mostly due to the 1990s cartoon. I’ll be interested in seeing a breakdown of how many characters were taken from each group.

Stages and Bosses

What was shown looks very good. It looks like Thanos will be one of the stage bosses, and what looks like Sauron will either be a stage boss or a mini-boss.

The standard enemies look like they will be the Sentinels and the insects of the Annihilation Wave. There will probably be the standard pallet swaps that you’ll see in every beat’em up. I don’t have a problem with it.

There wasn’t too much from Advanced Ideas and Mechanics (AIM) in this trailer. So, we’ll have to wait to learn more. I can only guess who will be added to the villains list from that group.

I’m guessing we’ll see MODOK as a boss or mini-boss. I don’t know too much about AIM, so I’m not sure who else could be added.

Wrap Up

I really like games like this. Video games and cartoons were how I learned about comic book characters when I was growing up. Now, it is much easier to find out about these characters.

As we approach the release of this game, I’ll provide an update on the announcements that have been made. Here is my previous post on the Marvel Cosmic Invasion announcement.
