The Pokemon Trading Card Game is disappointing | Yokoi Corner

This does a good job of merging the mainline Pokemon games with the trading card game. I think this was a good choice because it lent some familiarity to what you’re expected to do. I remember playing the trading card game when I was younger. It came near the end of my interest in themContinue reading “The Pokemon Trading Card Game is disappointing | Yokoi Corner”

Most Memorable Christmas Gaming Memories

Christmas is always a fun time of the year. You get time off school, see some family members you want to see, and exchange gifts with friends and family. When I was a kid, this time of year meant I would get video games as presents. Some of those games stand out to me. IContinue reading “Most Memorable Christmas Gaming Memories”

Ms. Pac-Man is a Great Port of a Classic Arcade Game | Yokoi Corner

Ms. Pac-Man is a great game to port to the Game Boy. The graphics and gameplay are solid. It is an excellent port that emulates the arcade experience quite well. This is a well-made port of Ms. Pac-Man. Well, it isn’t as good as the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive port; it is a very good one.Continue reading “Ms. Pac-Man is a Great Port of a Classic Arcade Game | Yokoi Corner”

Doom: Knee Deep in the Dead is a wonderful novel | Book Review

How do you novelize Doom? A game where the developers famously didn’t care about the story. Well, you take the bare bones of a story from the game, add some more characters, and give the main character more motivation and backstory. It did take some time to get going, but this is a fun book!Continue reading “Doom: Knee Deep in the Dead is a wonderful novel | Book Review”

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is not a great game | Yokoi Corner

This is a frustrating game. I could see it being good if you didn’t have anything better to do, but I couldn’t see anyone being excited to play this over and over. This is one of those games that seems to be banking on people wanting to play an Indiana Jones game. The developer wasContinue reading “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is not a great game | Yokoi Corner”

The books are targeted at younger readers, and the writing reflects this. It doesn’t make the books bad. IContinue reading “The Worlds of Power Book Series | A Retrospective”

Best Games I played in 2022

I’ve played several games this year. Many of them have been either retro or indie games. I’ve found that I’ve been shying away from the AAA games that don’t appeal to me or seem to be overpriced. I’ve decided to make a short list of the games that I think are the best games thatContinue reading “Best Games I played in 2022”

Pokemon Violet is an enjoyable game | Game Review

This is a hard game for me to review. I like the earlier generations more, but I did enjoy Sword and Shield. Violet and Scarlet try a few things that don’t work for me. There are some technical issues with the game. Most of them being textures glitching out. There are also some odd thingsContinue reading “Pokemon Violet is an enjoyable game | Game Review”

Starflight by Jamie Lendino a wonderful look at DOS games | Book Review

Introduction This is the fifth book from Jamie Lendino that I’ve read. While not the best book from those five, I think it is pretty good! Like his other books, numerous games are covered, and many probably don’t need to be here. While reading this, I kept thinking about specific games I remember playing inContinue reading “Starflight by Jamie Lendino a wonderful look at DOS games | Book Review”

A look at the Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre series

There are a few games that I really enjoy and go back to every year. Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen is one of those games. It’s my favorite game on the SNES. I know that sounds weird, especially with all the great games on the system. There is just something about it thatContinue reading “A look at the Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre series”
